(RaCCI/LBA) com superf{\'{\i}}cies homog{\^e}neas
(temperatura potencial, umidade espec{\'{\i}}fica, componentes
do vento) e de fluxos turbulentos de calor sens{\'{\i}}vel e
latente em superf{\'{\i}}cie.
A forte convec{\c{c}}{\~a}o causa misturas
A an{\'a}lise comparativa entre a
diferindo tamb{\'e}m quanto a varia{\c{c}}{\~a}o temporal. A
calmos. Os processos f{\'{\i}}sicos em superf{\'{\i}}cie
(transporte turbulento) chegaram a produzir at{\'e} 3 vezes mais
homog{\^e}neos.
fluxo. A raz{\~a}o dos fluxos de calor sens{\'{\i}}vel {\`a}
o balan{\c{c}}o de ECT apresenta caracter{\'{\i}}sticas bem
ABSTRACT: This thesis analyzes Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL)
features by analyzing the behavior of turbulent heat, moisture and
\emph{momentum} fluxes obtained through a large eddies simulation
(LES) model for the convective boundary layer (CBL) associated
with surface conditions and the entrainment zone (EZ). The PALM
numerical model was used with three different datasets
representing the dry (RBLE3) and rainy (WETAMC) seasons and a
transitional period (RaCCI / LBA) with homogeneous pasture and
forest surfaces characteristics in the Amazon region. For
initialization of the model, observations of radiosonde profiles
(potential temperature, specific humidity, wind components) and
surface sensible and latent turbulent heat fluxes were used. To
prove the PALM model efficiency, validations were carried out for
the results obtained using the diurnal evolution of thermodynamic
and dynamic profiles. During the dry season, pasture simulation
generated more intense convection than the forest and as a
consequence of this greater surface warming, a deeper CLC height
was formed. The strong convection causes effective moisture
mixtures, increasing the sensible heat flux and facilitating the
occurrence of major eddies on the pasture. When there is a greater
availability of moisture (both in atmosphere and surface), as in
the case of the forest, the latent heat flux becomes the main
turbulent heat transfer mode, regulating the heating and the CLC
growth. Through the temperature and humidity variance profiles, a
deeper thermal and moisture interaction of the EZ with the CLC on
the forest site was found by showing greater amplitude variation
mainly in temperature variance. The comparative analysis of the
ratio of surface and entrainment zone sensible heat fluxes
presented a higher value (-0.38) than the one usually used in the
literature and also differing the temporal variation. The CLC
height estimated by the method of the minimum sensible heat flux
of the model was more efficient in comparison with the analytical
results of the forest site (difference of 340 m), while for
pasture site an improved accuracy was achieved using the method of
potential temperature (difference of 560 m). Regarding the
turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) budget, the thermal output term
proved to be the most important, while in the rainy season, the
mechanical production occurred with low intensities because of
calm winds. Physical processes in surface (turbulent transport)
produced up to 3 times more mixing in the lower extension of the
CLC than the upper extension. As a case study, was performed a
heterogeneous simulation (forest and pasture region together) with
data representative of a dry season. It was observed that the
maximum latent heat flux values were higher than those found in
homogeneous cases. The most intense convection produced by
pasture, associated with an increased availability of forest
moisture along with a possible secondary circulation, caused this
increased flux. The ratio of the surface and EZ sensible heat flux
in heterogeneity resulted in a ratio of 0.48, while the TKE budget
show characteristics very similar to the homogeneous forest
site.",
